Colts Report - Rd 16 v Peel Thunder
A wet day greeted us, as we travelled down to Bendigo Bank Stadium Saturday morning. Peel Thunder who were coming off a big win against a strong South Fremantle side in their last match. After some dissapointing results over the last couple of weeks the boys were keen to improve on our last performance and match it with Peel.
Playing team footy was our main focus this week & adapting to the wet, muddy conditions was going to be vital. A tight tussel early in the 1st quarter saw either side able to take accendency. The conditions were tough and it was Peel who took some good marks up forward & converted to be in front by a couple of goals at quarter time. In the second it was Peel who started to get on top. We over used the handball through the middle & when we went forward we turned the ball over too easy and allowed Peel to catch us out in transition. The second half we were able to work our way back into the game but again costly mistakes and poor skills under pressure hurt us as Peel ran away with the game.
We again blooded some new talent with James Coe from Kingsely, Allan Jones from Warwick Greenwood & Jack Vlahos from the Carine Junior Football Club made their debuts for the Subiaco Football Club and applied themselves well all day. We have been doing it tough on the scoreboard in the last couple of weeks but we have to stick at it and keep working hard on our game as a team. Its always great too see young blokes taking the next step to colts footy and we will keep giving the younger blokes an opportunity aswell as exposing the older blokes to reserves footy in the next few weeks.
We wish Kieran O'Regan the bust of luck with his recovery from knee surgery which he had a couple of weeks ago. His attitude at training has been fantastic and i'm sure we will see him back fighting fit next year. Luke Symonds will also go under the knife this week & have surgery on his shoulder. Luke was apart of the state 18's squad and unfortunatly only got to play one game against South Australia before hurting his shoulder. We wish Luke & Kieran the best of luck with their recovery.
Next week we have West Perth and will again be a big challenge for our side, we will keep working hard on the track and will be looking for a win on Saturday.
