Junior Girls Sock it to Sarcoma!

Tuesday, June 20, 2017 - 8:00 AM

Last friday night our Subiaco District Junior Girl's teams rocked out their odd socks for Sock it to Sarcoma! week.

Teams from all across junior football play in odd coloured socks to help raise awareness and funding for Sarcoma research. Last Friday night the Warwick Greenwood Junior Girls showed off their odd socks in style as they battled out a hard fought game against the Kingsley Cats.

"It was an awesome sight seeing all the girls getting on board for a good cause and playing in their odd socks." said District Development Officer Matt Debarro. "It was great seeing all the teams get on board with the Sarcoma awareness round".

Sarcoma is a very rare and aggressive form of cancer which sadly saw one of our junior footballers battle several years ago.

The District and the Junior clubs have since then rallied together to raise funds and awareness for sarcoma through the annual sock it to Sarcoma round. Every year we are seeing more and more teams get on board and support the cause. It's no surprise our new junior girls teams have got behind it already in the stellar first year of the competition.
